Why min and max prices matter
Minimum and maximum prices are guardrails for your repricing rules. RepriceLab will never set a price below your minimum or above your maximum, regardless of what the repricing algorithm calculates. Without these guardrails, an aggressive strategy could theoretically price your product at $0.01 or unnecessarily high.
Setting min/max prices is not just good practice — it is essential for protecting your profitability and avoiding Amazon pricing policy violations.
Price floors (minimum price)
The minimum price is the lowest price RepriceLab will ever set for a product. When the algorithm wants to set a price below this floor, RepriceLab holds at the minimum price instead. This means:
- You may lose the Buy Box if the minimum is too high relative to competitors
- You are protected from selling below cost
- Your repricing activity log will show "Min Price Block" when this occurs
How to set your minimum price: Your minimum should be calculated as your landed cost plus your target margin. For FBA products, this includes product cost, FBA fees, referral fees, and any return rate buffer. The COGS page in RepriceLab can help you track these costs per SKU.
Price ceilings (maximum price)
The maximum price is the highest price RepriceLab will set. The Maximize Profit strategy will push toward this ceiling when competition is low. Without a maximum price set, RepriceLab will use your current Amazon listing price as the ceiling by default.
Amazon price gouging policies: Amazon has strict rules against excessive pricing, especially for essential products. Always set a reasonable maximum price that reflects fair market value. Violations can result in listing suppression or account suspension.
Setting prices in RepriceLab
You can set minimum and maximum prices in two ways:
Individual product — Repricing page
Go to the Repricing page and find the product you want to configure. Click the product row to expand the pricing panel. Enter the Min Price and Max Price fields and save. Changes take effect on the next repricing cycle.
Bulk — Import page
For large catalogs, use the Import page to upload a CSV with min/max prices for multiple products at once. Download the template, fill in the SKU/ASIN column along with min_price and max_price columns, and upload. RepriceLab will apply these values to all matching products.
Avoiding Amazon pricing errors
Amazon may reject price updates that fall outside acceptable ranges. Common causes:
- Price too low: Amazon sometimes blocks prices below a product's historical low or below a threshold it considers non-viable. RepriceLab will log these as SP-API errors. Raising the minimum price typically resolves this.
- Price too high: Amazon blocks prices deemed excessive. Keep your maximum price within a reasonable range of current market prices.
- Reference price violations: For some product categories, Amazon enforces a maximum allowable markup over a "reference price." RepriceLab logs these errors in the Repricing Activity page.
All price update errors are visible in the Repricing Activity log under the SP-API status column.
COGS integration
RepriceLab's COGS (Cost of Goods) feature lets you record your unit cost per SKU. Once COGS is entered, RepriceLab can display your estimated margin for each product at its current price — helping you quickly identify whether your minimum price is set at a profitable level.
